FPC is Expanding!
Challenges Identified - Some of the challenges our church faces we have identified as follows:
- Those who cannot easily negotiate stairs either submit to a tiny and cranky lift, or stay home.
- All adults and youth who spend time with us are relegated to rooms inadequate for needed Sunday school and youth acitivites.
- Our bathrooms are old, too few, and inadequate in size.
- Most rooms are too hot or too cold, with steam heating and no air conditioning.
- Lighting and air circulation are poor.
- Wiring and plumbing are outdated, and sound amplification is inconsistent and also insufficiant for those with hearing impairments.
- The physical limitations of the Christian education wing, gymnasium, sanctuary, and curch offices make our sacred place uncomfortable, confining and uninspiring.
- The downstairs location of our fellowship hall lacks handicap access, and so is difficult to impossible for many of our members to reach, and the adjacent kitchen is constrained by decrepit equipment and by poumbing problems. It is estimated that only a third of the people attending the worship remain after worship for fellowship.
- The population of protestants in Cache Valley, as well as those who describe themselves as unchurched, is projected to maintain steady growth in the years to come. Many of these people are potential members of our church. However, our present sanctuary cannot be significantly enlarged, given the restrictions of our building's historic nature as well as our budget.
